cross against skyI am amazed by Jesus, especially when I look at Him and identify all the barriers and bridges He crossed for the sake of love. I marvel at His unceasing pursuit of mankind and it fills me with wonder. All the things He sacrificed, even His own self. I worship and adore such a God, who would give of Himself so extravagantly, for a broken mess like me. Wow! It makes me fall in love.

In light of Christ’s path for our salvation, I am in awe that He has offered me an invitation to walk a similar road as He once did. He was the first missionary, leaving His home, heaven, to come to the lost people of earth. In Philippians 2:1-11, it shows this paradox and encourages us to be like Christ in this way. Jesus is leading many of us on a similar journey, to leave our home—what is comfortable and normal to us—to  go to an unfamiliar land among unfamiliar people.  Why? For love, as the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:22, “…that some would be saved.” To be like Christ is to be a missionary in one fashion or another. The question is: are we responding to the call?

It’s not an easy road, but it’s worth it. He is worth it. There is nothing greater than to know Christ and share in both His sufferings and in His glory. This is our call. He is releasing grace to take hold of it. It’s our choice to do so.

How has God called you? Here are some ways that you can get involved in His mission.
