What does it mean that Jesus is Emmanuel STILL to Bwanbale, eager to pass Jesus along, but caught in a daily struggle to just feed his family. Would ‘God with us’ make a difference to him?
We share this story as part of ‘Emmanuel Still”, All Nations’ Year-End Campaign, because Jesus STILL seeks out the neglected, the hopeless, and the traumatized to give them hope & peace. Give today so that more people in desperate economic circumstances like Bwanbale can have their first experience of “Emmanuel Still”. Give today.
Ineffective Strategies
Bwanbale* was in despair. He had been trained by a large church that sent him off to his home region to build a church building, make converts, and then to gather offerings from these converts to support his family. Bwanbale was failing on all fronts; he loved Jesus, but in this poverty-stricken area of Eastern Uganda, none of these strategies were working to build the church or take care of his family. As a result, Bwanbale was having a faith crisis and his suffering children began to reject Jesus.
Church and Economy
When Bwanbale met a leader within a simple-church movement in the region, he learned two powerful truths: first, he can build the church by making disciples who make disciples. Second, he can do this while working to practically care for his family. Bwanbale was quickly fruitful – starting a simple church, multiplying leaders, and multiplying churches. He also began a small business (with a little assistance from All Nations to get started) that helped to support the needs of his family. Now, Bwanbale is full of joy as he lives out his spiritual calling and his children declare “we see how Jesus has transformed you – and we want to know this same Jesus!”
He is Emmanuel STILL
Bwanbale saw “Emmanuel Still” transform not only souls, but his entire livelihood! His salvation is holistic, because everything is spiritual. All Nations missionaries trained Bwanbale to have a more complete vision of Jesus – one that transformed his own life, and is beginning to transform the lives of his impoverished disciples and community.
There are thousands of people around the world like Bwanbale, who have never seen the holistic vision of “Emmanuel Still.” Would you give today so that more people like him can encounter Emmanuel in a way that transforms not only their souls, but also their bodies and entire communities?
